I made my way back to Draconia as quickly as I could manage, after I had freed myself from Kingslayer. When I got back home, I learned of how things had been in the time I was gone. My mother...she had passed a few years prior to the day I returned. I was nearly fifty years of age by that time, and she had been almost thirty when I was born. As young as I may look, it is only due to my draconic blood.

I spoke with my father some, by now feeling at a loss for what to do. Part of me wished to stay home, enjoy the company of my friends and family there. But I had made a life of adventure, of exploration. It was something many of the Dragonson family had done before. Leaving to prove themselves worthy of taking the throne once the one before them passed.

I still felt myself unable to live up to my father's legacy. Though given he was still in what a dragon would consider his prime, I knew I had centuries of time to build up strength. Having seen nearly all my human family pass in that time, and finding that my father had no wish to take another mate, dragon or otherwise...I felt even less reason to settle down and stay.

The first thing I did upon deciding to leave again was report back to the Gaia kingdom. Twenty years since I had accepted the mission to locate Kingslayer, to finish what my father started and settle whatever score the queen Isenfost had with the rogue dragon. My mission wasn't officially over until I reported back. After all that time I learned that Kingslayer had continued to cause trouble after my failure, raiding travelers in the mountain area I found his lair in.

Despite those difficulties and continued conflict with demonic beings to the north, one good thing to occur was an uneasy truce with the goblin and orcish lands west of Gaia, the ones I traveled into when hunting down the rogue general Rayel. Karos, the one that aided me in finding the general, the one chosen as a new leader for them, had brought some of the scattered tribes into an alliance with him, and brought in other beings such as humans or wolfkin that previously lived on the fringes of both Gaian and Western society.

There wasn't much I had to do afterward. Explore the lands north of Gaia, some. A blighted wasteland ruled by demons, fallen angels that worship ruinous powers, seemingly similar to whatever granted Kingslayer his dark magic. And possibly the same things the vampire Sigil had studied. I also found myself interested in lands even farther north, a settlement of humans and angels that were more or less isolated due to the wastelands south of them. And yet I learned little from making my way there, the knowledge and culture they once had from times before the age of demons had been mostly lost.

What little I did learn in that continued wandering, aimless as it was...one of the sites in the wasteland. One of many places ravaged by the ancient conflicts, said to host a rend in the very fabric of reality. It was true, a hidden place that even the demons of the land rarely came near. That was where I found out how to explore beyond this realm.

What little I learned in my travels did allow me to make use of it, to actually travel through it. At the same time I used another application of shapeshifting magic. Just as the potions I crafted could seal away my human side, I found a way to seal my draconic side. Part of it was a belief that whatever was beyond would be a greater challenge if I appeared human. Part of it was the belief it would better conceal my identity, knowing that leaving a trail to my world might cause problems.

Either way, my adventures in other worlds started with a human appearance, until events resulted in recovering enough power, and motivation, to undo it.

Though to me, it seems like things just devolved into pointless wandering after my conflicts with Kingslayer were resolved. Not like it mattered to me...
And it's done. A half-assed backstory for my main character that took an eternity to write, and really only serves to put all the assorted plot threads I pulled out of my ass during years of RPing into a vaguely coherent story.

I'm sorry, coherent? Nope.
